ROC3-OSW cards are very fast Optical Switches with one input and multiple outputs. The OSW series from ROC3 optical transport platform include optical switch models from 1x4 up to 1x144 outputs. The ROC3-OSW16 is a managed 1x16 Optical Switch. Controls allow switch to operate in Manual, Auto-Scan or Detect modes and the Switch can be fully controlled from the NMC management card. Applications of optical switches include continuous fiber monitoring and automatic fiber measurement.
The ROC3-OSW cards fit into any of the ROC3 chassis: either ROC-CH04, ROC-CH08 or ROC-CH16 model. There are many other optical cards for the ROC3 platform, all can be managed via ROC3-NMC card. Among the optical cards available for ROC3 platform we can find transponders for 100G, 25G, 10G and even lower speeds such as Gigabit or Fast Ethernet, CWDM and DWDM mux demux cards going as far as 40 channels in an AAWG configuration (ROC3-DWDM-AAWG) or ROC3-OLPS35 1:1 optical protection cards. Many other function cards, such as DCM compensation modules, Optical Protection, Variable Attenuators or FWDM cards are available for the ROC3 chassis. Platform is dimensioned for 19" rack mounting and has 23" rack adapting brackets available on demand.
The ROC3 chassis series provide redundant power supply system with "hot swap" feature, to provide continuous smooth operation of the units installed. The ROC3-OSW cards are also hot-swappable, settings are stored in the ROC3-NMC management card. In case of a protection card malfunction, card can be removed and a newly inserted card will automatically be programmed by the NMC card with previously saved configuration, so the chassis keeps running unimpeded and without any programming effort from technician to recommission the new card.
