PoE Equipment
Power over Ethernet is a technology enabling direct powering of myriad of network end devices (such as WiFi routers, VoIP phones or IP cameras) simply through their UTP Ethernet uplink cable. Various standards allow usage of 4 or 8 wires of the UTP cable and power can go from standard 15.4W up to 60W or even 72W on special security camera applications. The power delivered does not affect the Ethernet traffic. PoE devices are split into PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) which delivers power through the UTP cable and PD (Powered Device) which uses the PoE power to operate itself.
