The  SFM-5002-WB optical module is 155Mbps (Fast Ethernet/OC3) rate capable. The SFM-5002-WB transceiver is the only model designed for single strand BiDi multimode fiber use. It must be paired with its SFM-5002-WA counterpart to operate properly as they are using complementary wavelengths. The SFM-5002-WA and SFM-5002-WB operate on either 50/125um or 62.5/125um multi-mode fiber for up to 2Km distance. The fiber standard for SFM-5002-WA/B is 100Base-FX BiDi or OC3/155M BiDi.

All FRM220 series SFP based converters with slow speed interfaces, such as FRM220-SERIAL-SFP, FRM220-FXO-FXS-SFP, FRM220-CCF20 or FRM220-E1-T1-SFP as well as all dual speed Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet FMC and FRM220 Ethernet converters can be equipped with the 155M BiDirectional multimode SFPs.

The SFM-5002-WA and SFM-5002-WB pair are a unique opportunity to move multimode communications from two fiber strands to only one strand. Such move might be sometimes forced by fiber being deteriorated and one strand of the common duplex circuit becoming compromised. By using the SFM-5002-WA/WB, only one strand of MMF would be enough for communications to continue same as before.

SFP's or miniGBIC modules are extremely versatile, working with any active equipment that support the SFP type of interface: Ethernet switches, routers and any other networking equipment. Our SFPs have been tested and found 100% compatible with various Ethernet switches from major manufacturers like: Cisco, Nortel, Extreme, ZyXEL, D-Link or Netgear.
