Note:  Price is per unit, although photo depicts two Optical Protection units. FRM220-CH01M-AC casing is included, allowing the protection card to be managed/configured through local RS-232 console, without the FRM220-NMC management card.


Product description
 The FRM220-OPS51 Optical Line Protection (OLP) unit is able to provide fiber path redundancy on a channel by channel basis. These units are particularly well suited for protection in any type of fiber data transmission, being independent from the optical protocol. The Protection card will work with any DWDM/CWDM system or regular 1310/1550nm grey fiber, covering SONET. SDH, Ethernet, Fibre Channel or any other optical protocols.

This solution includes monitoring capabilities for both the working and protected path fibers. In case of a fiber cut in the active path, traffic will be switched over to the protected path in less than 50 ms. Monitoring is available through SNMP Management when FRM220-OPS51 card is placed in FRM220 rack with SNMP management. The management can view the converter card's status, type, version, fiber link status and alarms. The card can be configured to enable or disable the port, reset the port, and configure receive threshold levels for path switching.
