Description
Product description
The core of a DWDM application is the passive MUX/DEMUX unit. DWDM stands for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing and allows for very high concentration of channels on a single fiber circuit. Using a 100GHz spacing grid for channels results in 80 separate channels available in the 1550nm window. We do provide AAWG (Athermal AWG) DWDM mux/demuxes, in either fixed 1RU rack 19" format (as shown in above picture) or LGX or no housing modules format. AAWG DWDM technology has allowed full use of the bandwidth a dark fiber can offer. Due to the fixed insertion loss, number of channels is no more a concern. Thus we see deployments going usually for 40 channels, giving ample provisioning of future bandwidth.
The RB1-DWDM-AAWG-21 is a 40 channels DWDM AAWG mux/demux simplex path filter, covering all ITU 100GHz grid channels 21 to 60, with LC/UPC connectors.

AAWG DWDM mux/demuxes are available in 40, 48 or 80 channels. This is a 40 channels simplex DWDM filter. In a simplex configuration (like the one available on this page), two wavelengths must be used for a single duplex channel, thus the total filter capacity is halved, but the fiber requirements only demand for a single strand of fiber. Given the large amount of channels that can be active through an AAWG mux/demux, single strand fiber connections are a viable solution for crowded fiber optic segments. Options for monitoring ports and/or 1310nm pass through port are available on request, please contact us for such choices.
To assure communications over the DWDM wavelengths special DWDM SFP modules must be used.
