Low cost CWDM solutions
CWDM solutions are known for their ability to share a single physical
fiber optic circuit for several optical connections, thus extending the
bandwidth of fiber and allow multiple applications to run over same
resources.
The basic principle of CWDM is to use different optical wavelengths over same fiber cable and mux/demux
them through a passive optical device, specially built on such purpose.
The CWDM solution we offer has the ability to multiplex up to 9(8+1) different fiber links over the same physical circuit. The operation range can reach up to 120Km, depending on optical modules used. The total maximum data capacity is 2.5G x 9 = 22.5G.
Application of CWDM w/ 8-to-1 passive MUX/DEMUX
The
beauty of our low-cost CWDM solution is the ability to connect almost any type
of fiber communications to the CWDM circuit. The core element is the FIB1-1000DS universal converter, which can accomodate 2 SFP optical modules, allowing conversion of usual 850nm, 1310nm or 1550nm to colored CWDM light. You can send together over same fiber Giga Ethernet, SDH, ATM, E1 or T1, Fibre Channel and even CCTV signals.

FIB1-1000DS is an SFP to SFP slot universal media converter. SFP modules must have same data rate for proper operation. Unit acts as an optical repeater (re-amplifier) and supports all data rates from 155Mbps to 1.25Gbps.

The SFS-7040 series CWDM SFP modules have a 1.25Gbps (Gigabit) rate. Transceivers operate on 9/125um single-mode fiber for 40Km, using special CWDM channels (1471 to 1611nm, in steps of 20nm). SFP CWDM modules support DD (Digital Diagnostic) functions.
